Canwest has picked up Haven — the E1 Entertainment series in the works for Syfy. The broadcaster said Friday that the 13 x 60 drama will air this summer on Showcase.

‘The drama and suspense of Haven is sure to resonate with our audiences,’ said drama and factual SVP Christine Shipton. ‘With intriguing supernatural storylines and fascinating characters played by such a talented cast, we can’t wait to get this into production.’

Shooting is set for this spring in Nova Scotia.

The series stars Emily Rose (Jericho), Lucas Bryant (Dollhouse) and Eric Balfour (24). It follows an FBI agent (Rose) who arrives in the small town that’s home to people with supernatural abilities, and is based on the novella The Colorado Kid from Stephen King.
