Cable group expands
The Canadian Cable Systems Alliance announced earlier this month it is expanding its efforts and will now provide regulatory assistance to its member companies – moving to fill a gap left behind after the collapse earlier this year of the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association. The regulatory efforts will be headed by Chris Edwards, with former CCTA VP Harrisy Boys on as an advisor. The New Brunswick-based CCSA represents 94 cable companies, reaching more than 850,00 households.
TIFF growing, again
The Toronto International Film Festival is expanding its sales and industry office ahead of this fall’s festival – adding space to accommodate more than 3,000 delegates, a bigger sales office for the Ontario Media Development Corporation, billboards, special meeting areas and more. TIFF has also revamped its passes, which now include access to public screenings and which range from $150 to $800. Registration is now online at industry.tiffg.ca.
Ferns, Macnamara take master classes to Europe
Doug Macnamara and Pat Ferns are headed to Europe – and will hold the latest in their series of master classes for media execs in Halle, Germany Aug. 25-30.
The Leadership Master Class for European Media Executives will cover topics including branding and marketing, leadership style and HR, and is produced by a partnership between German prodco NFP and the International Institute for Television Leadership, fronted by Macnamara and Ferns. It will be followed by similar events in Singapore in November and next year in Banff.
