The next round of Geminis will include two new awards for research.

Organizers at the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television recently announced that the annual TV awards will include honors for best editorial research and best visual research.

The move has met great support from the documentary and non-fiction community.

‘Canada’s much vaunted reputation for non-fiction documentaries would be meager if not for the efforts of Canada’s editorial and visual researchers,’ said Kevin McMahon, director and partner at Primitive Entertainment.

‘Researchers are the unsung heroes quietly toiling away finding key information, developing angles and fleshing out storylines,’ added Norm Bolen, president and CEO of the CFTPA.
