Basinger MOW wraps in Calgary

Calgary: Academy Award winner Kim Basinger wrapped the MOW The Mermaid Chair June 7 after four weeks of shooting in Calgary for local prodco Nomadic Pictures (Broken Trail), U.S.-based Randwell Distribution, Lifetime Television and Corus Entertainment.

Mermaid – about a married woman who falls in love with a Benedictine monk – was directed by Steven Schachter (Door to Door), and written by Suzette Couture (The Man Who Lost Himself), from the novel by Sue Monk Kidd. It is produced by Nomadic’s Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev (The Legend of Butch & Sundance), with Randwell’s Randy Robinson (Profoundly Normal) exec producing. Basinger stars with Roberta Maxwell (Brokeback Mountain), Alex Carter (CSI) and Bruce Greenwood (Capote).

The movie, currently in post in Vancouver, is expected to premiere on Lifetime in September.

Nomadic and Randwell have partnered before on projects including Lies My Mother Told Me.
