* Tara Walker is taking over as executive director of the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association, replacing Caryl Brandt, who is taking a sabbatical. Walker will still perform her duties as MMPIA’s programs manager.

* Jacqueline Dupuis is the new executive director of the Calgary International Film Festival. Dupuis has a tech background, but has served on the CIFF board of directors, working on strategic planning and development.

* Shane Smith has been named director of programming at Channel Zero, responsible for both Movieola – The Short Film Channel and Silver Screen Classics. Smith is the former festival director for the Canadian Film Center’s Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto.

* Patricia McCutcheon has been named ACTRA’s national organizer, digital media. She has served as the group’s commercial coordinator for the last eight years.

* Sandie Hatch has come aboard at Studio B Productions as a licensing agent for the toon shop’s series Yvon of the Yukon, D’Myna Leagues and Yakkity Yak. Hatch is the CEO of VooDoo Entertainment, a firm that handles intellectual property management and marketing.

* Beate Jack has been hired as CHUM Television’s affiliate account and training manager. Jack joins CHUM from The Weather Network, where she was an account executive for commercial services.
