CBC’s doc channel acquires Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah

The Oscar-shortlisted doc from Toronto-based filmmaker Adam Benzine has also been sold into five other territories.

CBC’s Documentary Channel has acquired Adam Benzine’s Canada/U.S./U.K. coproduction Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah.

The film, which is written, produced and directed by the Toronto-based filmmaker, has also been picked up by Channel 1 in Israel, VPRO in Holland, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland and TVP in Poland.

As previously announced, Claude Lanzmann was also acquired by HBO (U.S.), DR (Denmark) and ZDF/ARTE (Germany/France) after it world-premiered at Toronto’s Hot Docs film festival in April.

The 40-minute film details the making of director Claude Lanzmann’s 10-hour Holocaust documentary Shoah, which was released in 1985.

In October it was announced the doc had made the shortlist for the Academy Awards in the Documentary Short Subject category.
