Bon Cop deemed worthy

Bon Cop, Bad Cop: An over-the-top film with a threadbare story can thank its stars for mostly favorable reviews from critics.

‘The chemistry between these two seasoned pros’ – Colm Feore and Patrick Huard as mismatched cops, one from Ontario, the other from Quebec – ‘is strong enough to paper over any qualms about the dubious mission of the movie or the execution of its groan-worthy script,’ writes Peter Howell in The Toronto Star.

CanWest’s Jay Stone agrees that their ‘odd-couple chemistry… is both funny and uniquely homegrown,’ while The Globe and Mail ‘s Stephen Cole favorably compares Huard’s ‘shambling, chain-smoking’ lawman with that of Nick Nolte in the similar buddy picture 48 Hours.

The Érik Canuel-directed comedy ‘stands an excellent chance of becoming Quebec’s most successful French movie of all time,’ adds Jeremy Knox at Film Threat.com.

‘Delivers a good dose of hard action while laughing at the stereotypes of poker-up-the-ass Ontario and loose-cannon Quebec,’ raves NOW Magazine’s Andrew Dowler.
