* CanWest Global has appointed Derek H. Burney as chairman of the board, taking over for interim chairman David Drybrough. Burney is an advisor to the law firm of Ogilvy Renault and was Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. from 1989-1993.
* Sue Sheridan is now executive director of the Women in Film and Television branch in Toronto, ending five months in the interim post.
* Meg Pinto has joined TVOntario as managing director of revenue and marketing.
* Brenda Greenberg is now VP of creative for Blueprint Entertainment, working out of its Toronto office, and will oversee the new series The Best Year for The N and Global Television.
* Canadian Television Fund chairman Douglas Barrett is now PS Production Services’ new president and CEO, after serving as the company’s executive chairman since 1999.
* Wayne Clark is the new senior program officer for independent production and new media at Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
* Corus Entertainment has contracted Diane Williamson of Toronto media house Digital Wizards to work with independent producers on developing multi-platform projects.
* Dawn Brennan is the new GM of Safety & Health in Arts Production & Entertainment in B.C., leaving her GM post at the Playhouse Theatre Company in Vancouver.
* Montreal-based Distraction Formats has tapped Louise Hercules as operations and event manager for its newly expanded office in London. In addition, Barbara Vallant, a former sales exec for Telcast Media in Germany, is now Distraction’s European sales agent.
