WFF to honour Bruce Greenwood

Greenwood is among three actors to be honoured by the festival.

bruce greenwoodThe Whistler International Film Festival will honour Canadian actor Bruce Greenwood with a Career Achievement Award at this year’s festival.

The festival is screening the world premiere of his latest film Rehearsal. His first on-screen role was in The Beachcombers, and he has since appeared in a number of Canadian projects, including Donald Shebib’s The Climb, Paul Donovan’s Paint Cans, Atom Egoyan’s The Sweet Hereafter and Elephant Song. Other projects he has appeared in includes Star Trek, I, Robot, American Crime Story and Mad Men.

Earlier this month, the festival announced British-born Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland would be awarded the WFF 2015 Trailblazer in Acting Award, presented to an actor who has followed a unique career path and continues to participate in meaningful and impactful work. Forsaken, in which Sutherland stars alongside Donald Sutherland and Demi Moore, will have its Western Canadian premiere at Whistler.

Finally, Scottish-born actor Robert Carlyle will be presented with the WFF 2015 Maverick Award. His directorial debut, The Legend of Barney Thomson, will gave its North American bow at WFF.

The festival runs from Dec. 2 to Dec. 6.
