* Cheryl Hassen is the new COO of Halifax Film. Hassen is the former creative head of children’s and youth programming for CBC.
* The Winnipeg Film Group has appointed filmmaker Cecilia Araneda as its new executive director.
* Eileen Hoeter has been tapped as the new chair of Women in Film & Television International in Vancouver.
* Keri Levinsky has joined Telus TV’s business development team in Toronto as senior partner manager.
* Veteran journalist Eric Sorensen is now the Washington bureau chief for Global News, leaving his post at CBC’s The National.
* Karen Macdonald has been tapped as news director for Global Quebec, based in Montreal.
* Brian Britt will take over co-anchor duties for CTV Montreal’s 6 p.m. newscast, following the retirement of Bill Haugland. Todd van der Heyden will replace Britt as co-anchor of the noon newscast.
