NBCUniversal Int’l, Quebecor Content ink dev deal

The deal will see Quebecor Content and NBCUniversal International Studios co-develop new factual and studio-based formats for global audiences.

NBCUniversal International Studios and Quebecor Content have inked a co-development deal that will see the two companies co-develop new factual and studio-based formats targeted at international audiences.

NBCUniversal International Studios and Quebecor Content will share all the IP created through the partnership, with NBCUniversal handling international distribution and holding the rights to exploit the formats. The creative conversations linked to the deal will be facilitated by NBCUniversal’s in-house, London-based format lab, Tellycopter. The company also recently entered into a similar co-development agreement with Ireland’s TV3.

Vancouver-based Lark Productions will produce all of the English-language versions of the formats for the Canadian market that come out of the partnership. NBCUniversal owns an equity stake in Lark Productions.

Quebecor Content is a division of the larger Quebecor Media company. The production arm already has strategic partnership deals with France’s TF1 Production and Kabo, as well as Israel’s Armoza Formats.
