WIFT-T names management accelerator participants

Rebecca Swift and Cher Merlo are among 12 individuals who were selected for the inaugural edition of the Shaw Media Management Accelerator program.

shutterstock_221534101Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) has announced the 12 participants selected for its inaugural Shaw Media Management Accelerator program.

The selected participants include: Kerry Ball (literary agent, Meridian Artists), Jennifer Barkin (manager, youth learning and TIFF Kids International, TIFF), Lisa Gotlieb (coordinator, independent production, Bell Media), Darren Kaliciak (independent film and television producer), Cadence King (rights analyst, Bell Media) and Sara Lutz (program planning analyst, Bell Media).

Also named to the program are Michelle McTeague (publicity manager, Food Network Canada, Lifetime, Showcase, Slice, Shaw Media), Cher Merlo (manager, Whites Interactive, William F White International Inc.), Carolyn Rohaly (talent relations, CBC), Rebecca Swift (production manager, Arc Productions), Jennifer Thanasse (national account executive, Shaw Media), and Jessica Watson (acquisitions manager, TV International, Entertainment One).

The program – developed jointly by WIFT-T and Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education – is designed to help screen-based professionals further their skills in management. Over the course of a 56-hour intensive program, participants will receive development training in strategic planning, financial concepts, marketing, project management and business communications.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be placed in groups and receive further guidance from a group mentor. Participants who complete the program will receive a Recognition of Completion award from the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University.
