VSC picks up This Changes Everything

The doc from Canadian director Avi Lewis will have its world bow at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 13.

Video Services Corp (VSC) has acquired all Canadian rights to This Changes Everything, a Canada/USA documentary directed by Avi Lewis that was inspired by a Naomi Klein book of the same name.

The doc, which is set to have its world bow at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 13, looks at the impact of climate change as told through the experiences of some of the world’s hardest-hit communities. Following the TIFF screening and a screening in Paris, VSC will do a multi-city theatrical release for the doc starting Oct. 9 and community screenings across Canada starting in November. VSC also acquired the exclusive North American distribution rights for the film’s release on DVD and Blu-ray, and is planning a hard-goods release for 2016.

Lewis serves as both director and producer on This Changes Everything, with Anadil Hossain also producing. The doc is executive produced by Alfonso Cuarón, Danny Glover, Seth MacFarlane, Bertha Foundation, Jodie Evans, Matthew Palevsky, Lekha Singh, Alysha Sidhu and Shepard Fairey. Farhad Ebrahimi, Pamela Anderson,Vivienne Westwood, Susan Rockefeller and Kent Spriggs are among the co-executive producers on the project.

Jonathan Gross of VSC and Scott Kaplan of Film Buff negotiated the distribution deal for This Changes Everything.
