Pedro Morell’s Zoom will have its world premiere in the Toronto International Film Festival’s Vanguard program, as the organization announced additional programming details on Tuesday.
The comedy was the only newly added Canadian title to the festival’s lineup. TIFF also revealed the 30 films to be featured in the Discovery program, including the world premiere of Michael Lennox’s A Patch of Fog (United Kingdom), Robin Pront’s The Ardennes (Belgium) and Tammy Davis’ Born to Dance (New Zealand).
The festival also announced its TIFF Next Wave committee, made up of a group of 12 students aged 15 to 18 that selects films from the fest that will appeal to youth. The committee selected Andrew Cividino’s Sleeping Giant, as well as Simon Fitzmaurice’s My Name is Emily (Ireland) and Alexandra-Therese Keining’s Girls Lost (Sweden).
TIFF also officially announced Tuesday its Festival Street event would be returning for 2015. The event will close King Street West between Peter and University Streets from Sept. 10 to Sept. 13. Events to be held during the street festival include the Canada’s Got Game live show presented by Telefilm Canada and the Toronto Star.
