Canadian filmmakers may have an extra shot at getting in front of Halifax film fans on the big screen with the addition of a dedicated screen for Cineplex programming brand Front Row Centre Events to the city’s Park Lane cinema.
Front Row Centre Events is Cineplex’s “other” basket, essentially, a screen it can dedicate to event screenings (one night or one-weekend showings) for everything from genre to classic titles, or screenings of live events. It has a deal with Canadian distributor Raven Banner for occasional screenings of indie horror films (and Turbo Kid (pictured) recently) on the FRCE screens and it often programs limited runs of Canadian films as well, most recently including The Next Step movie, Corner Gas: The Movie and the Stratford Festival films.
It’s the company’s second dedicated event screen in Canada, the first of which is in Toronto at its Yonge-Dundas location.
The opening day of the FRCE screen in Halifax will feature free screenings for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, Apollo 13, Everyman and Led Zeppelin Celebration Day.
