Debt, a drama penned by Canadian Ian MacDonald, has been sold to U.S. net WGN America.
Debt was purchased as a straight-to-series consideration, with a penalty if it doesn’t get a greenlight from the network. Canadians Bradley Walsh and Jennifer Kennedy are attached to executive produce the series, along with Neil LaBute, Vincent Kartheiser and Christina Wayne.
The series will be produced by Endemol Shine and Wayne’s Assembly Entertainment shingle.
Prior to launching Assembly Entertainment, Wayne oversaw Cineflix Media’s scripted programming and executive produced Copper for BBC America. She currently has a pod deal with Endemol Studios for scripted series development and production. She announced her departure from Cineflix in 2013.
