Telus has joined with Broadbandtv in a bid to add more content to its Internet TV effort, Telus TV, and on Tuesday announced plans to pick up movies and other programming from the B.C.-based distributor, starting with the entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter.
A Telus spokesperson says other titles will be announced later, likely making use of U.S., Latin American and European programming carried by BBTV, as well as programming for mobile.
‘Their service will bring our customers popular programming on demand,’ said Telus VP of content Fred Di Blasio in a statement, ‘so they can choose when to watch it rather than having to tune into their program at a scheduled time.’
Telus launched the IPTV outlet Telus TV in late 2005, and now reaches neighborhoods in Calgary, Edmonton and B.C.’s Lower Mainland.
