British Telecom has inked a deal with Toronto-based toon house Nelvana that will bring Cancon to its fledging BT Vision platform.
BT Vision Download Store is an online VOD service that allows customers with digital boxes to order content with a touch of a button. The boxes, which retail for approximately US$380 and which hit the mass market early this year, offer customers an array of cable and VOD choices.
The Nelvana deal will bring animated kids content such as Franklin the Turtle, Max & Ruby and Maggie and the Ferocious Beast to BT Vision, where it will be available to customers for approximately US$3 per half-hour.
The agreement ‘marks a very important step for Nelvana as we build a worldwide direct-to-consumer digital download strategy,’ said president Doug Murphy, in a release. ‘BT is clearly an innovator and leader in this space and we are delighted to be part of the launch of BT Vision.’
Nelvana and its parent company Corus Entertainment launched Treehouse Direct, the first digital video storefront in Canada, in September.
