Members of ACTRA have voted overwhelmingly in favor of their new contract with the CFTPA and APFTQ, formally closing the books on a dispute that led to the union’s first strike earlier this year.
Actors voted 98.7% in favor of the Independent Production Agreement, an ‘undeniably strong vote of confidence,’ according to a statement released Friday by ACTRA president Richard Hardacre.
The agreement had already been ratified by the boards of the CFTPA and APFTQ.
ACTRA’s 21,000 members went on strike Jan. 8. The three-year contract reached on Feb. 20 includes a 10% wage increase and, for producers, two payment options for performances in new media, a divisive issue throughout the strike.
