Gimli names competition finalists

Filmmakers including Jared Adams and Alex Kristiansen will pitch their short film concept to a panel at the Gimli Film Festival for a chance to win $10,000 in funding.

cameraThe Manitoba-based Gimli Film Festival has announced the finalists of this year’s RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Competition.

Filmmakers Jared Adams (Flicker), Steve Schwartz (Graft), Kevin Tabachnick (Annabelle), Devon Unrau (The Family Recipe) and Alex Kristiansen (Shieldmaiden) were chosen to pitch their short films to a panel of judges at the Gimli Theatre on Saturday, July 25.

In front of a live audience, each will get three minutes to pitch their concept, with the winner taking home a $10,000 sum for their production.

Selections were based on the quality of short film concepts submitted by Manitoban filmmakers. The competition is managed by On Screen Manitoba.

In addition to the funding from the RBC Emerging Artists Project, the winning project will get a world premiere at next year’s festival.

The Gimli Film Festival takes place July 22 to 26.
