Bell Fund distributes $3.8M across 29 projects

gaming showIn its latest round of financing, the Bell Fund has distributed nearly $3.8 million across 29 projects, including the second seasons of The Adventures of Napkin Man and Gaming Show (In My Parents’ Garage) and their complementary digital media projects.

The digital media component for Breakthrough Entertainment’s The Adventures of Napkin Man includes four interactive digital episodes, while the Secret Location-produced digital complement for Banger Films’ Gaming Show allows fans to play games alongside the show’s hosts in real-time.

Other English-language TV series and their corresponding digital media projects selected to receive production grants under the Bell Fund’s production program are Ruby Tree Films’ Fearless, Secret Location’s FitX, the third season of Big Coat Productions’ Love It or List It Vancouver and Galafilm Productions’ Newfoundland at Armageddon. Five French-language productions and their digital media projects also received production grants under the production program stream: Attraction Images’ Lire, Zone3’s Like-moi, Trinome’s SQ and Pour Sarah.

In the low-budget production program, English-language broadcast and digital projects that received production grants are Catbird Productions’ A Time to Swim, the third season of Temple Street Productions’ The Next Step, Sixteen Films’ Organic Panic, Hungry Eyes Film & Television’s Shoot the Messenger, Intuitive Pictures Space Race 2 and Picture Plant’s Studio Black!

On the French-language side, Parce Que Films’ #TammyUSA was selected to receive funding via the Bell Fund’s low budget production program.

Elsewhere, Secret Location’s Wild Canadian Year interactive project received development funding, while DHX Media/Nerd Corps’ Slugterra: Slug It Out! Extension 2 received performance accelerator funding. The performance accelerator program is meant to maximize audience engagement and monetization of an existing digital media project.

In the TV development online stream, Corus Entertainment’s All For One, Echo Media’s En 5 minutes, Productions Pixcom’s Mettons les voiles! and Suddenly SeeMore Productions’ Wheat Kings all received funding. In the professional development funding stream, five organizations received support from The Bell Fund for various programs, including the Youth Media Alliance, the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, Doc Circuit Montreal, the Atlantic Film Festival Association and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
