Blueprint Entertainment is moving into international distribution, having acquired a ‘significant stake’ in Oasis International in a deal announced Thursday.
The deal — which follows a multimillion-dollar investment by Robert Lantos and Jeff Sagansky in Blueprint in February — will see Peter Emerson stay on as president of Oasis. No significant staff changes are expected, according to a Blueprint spokesperson.
The companies have enjoyed a five-year working relationship, with Toronto-based Oasis handling distribution for a number of titles by the Toronto- and L.A.-based production house, including the Teletoon animated series Iggy Arbuckle, the MOWs Chasing Freedom and Be Careful What You Wish For, and the Showcase comedy Kenny vs. Spenny.
‘We will take Oasis and Blueprint to the next level as a major independent production and distribution player in the international marketplace,’ said Blueprint chairman and CEO John Morayniss.
‘This strategic integration and investment in Oasis is exactly what we have been seeking,’ added Emerson.
Details of the investment are not being disclosed. Oasis also owns a stake in Toronto’s Amaze Film + Television (Saint Ralph).
