Debbie Travis returns to Global this month with a second and slightly tweaked season of From the Ground Up. The 10 x 60 home design series returns on May 31, this time with 14 hopefuls competing to be chief designer of her new line of houses and condos. The series will take over the Thursday 9 p.m. ET slot previously filled by Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and Deal or No Deal.
‘Debbie Travis branded Condos and Homes is my biggest and most exciting project yet,’ said Travis in a release, ‘so I’m looking for someone who is innovative, creative and exudes pure brilliance.’
The show appears to be setting the bar higher than in season one, which was hung on the premise that young people have poor work ethics. It aired last summer to a season average of some 350,000.
From the Ground Up is a coproduction of Seven Steps Productions in Montreal and RTR Media, in which Travis is a partner. A spokesperson at Travis’ Montreal office says details about the line of homes are expected shortly.
