CBC shows its Face

CBC News has partnered with Facebook and the youth organization Student Vote in an effort to promote civic participation, becoming the first major broadcaster to tie in with the massively popular website.

The Ceeb is asking Canadians to share their visions for ‘building a better Canada’ on Facebook.com, where ideas will be reviewed, discussed and included in Canada Day coverage as The Great Canadian Wish List. Users must rally behind ideas and persuade other group members to back their wish. Stories will appear on TV, radio and at cbc.ca/wish.

The project was co-developed by Mike Wise, a Toronto reporter for CBC News at Six, and Student Vote founder Taylor Gunn. It launched on Monday and runs until July 1. Facebook’s user base in Canada is now approaching the three million mark.
