CBC.ca became the world’s first broadcaster website to partner with blog search giant Technorati on Tuesday.
A new section at the pubcaster’s site, cbcnews.ca/blogwatch, now highlights news stories and comments that are generating the most discussion among the 86 million blogs tracked by Technorati. Advertisers with CBC.ca, such as Dell and Vonage, appear in banners and skyscraper ads.
The move follows a CBC.ca redesign and the launch of several new features at CBCNews.ca, including an embedded media player highlighting news audio and video content.
The announcement also comes on the heels of the CBC’s Facebook initiative, the Great Canadian Wish List, and Tuesday’s departure of CBC News editor in chief Tony Burman.
