The Pitch Prize went to the MC2 Communication Media project, while the inaugural Hot Docs Short Film Pitch winners were also unveiled Thursday.

MC2 Communication Media’s Living With Giants has won the 2015 edition of the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Forum Pitch Prize, the festival announced Thursday.

The $10,000 cash prize is awarded to the best Canadian pitch presented at the Hot Docs Forum, as decided by attending international buyers. The feature-length documentary looks at the world of a young Inuk woman named  Paulusie Kasudluak as she faces down responsibilities and transitions into adulthood. The award was presented to the film’s pitch team members Sébastien Rist, Aude Leroux-Lévesque and Jean Simon-Chartier.

The festival also named the winners of the inaugural Hot Docs Short Film Pitch competition, which was presented by Hot Docs and Bell Media’s BravoFACT. The competition saw five teams of filmmakers pitch their projects in front of a live audience.

Cree Code Talker picked up the first-place prize of $30,000 following a pitch from Alexandra Lazarowich and Cowboy Smithx. Sinkhole won the second place prize of $25,000 after it was pitched by Nicolina Lanni and John Choi. Finally, the third place prize of $20,000 went to Heart of Darkness. The project was pitched by Frederick Kroetsch and Kurt Spenrath. The funding for the prizes was provided by BravoFACT.
