The inaugural Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) awards for company of the year have been awarded to Montreal-based prodcos Attraction Images and Metafilms.
The newly created award recognizes the achievement of producers based on the strength of their business development and quality and global recognition of their productions. Montreal-based Metafilms, founded in 2003, had a strong year in 2014, producing Xavier Dolan’s Mommy and Maxime Giroux’s Felix et Meira. And Attraction Images grew its business in 2014 by acquiring LP8 Media in January 2014, creating an opportunity for it to expand into new genres.
In the past, Attraction Images has also found international success with feature film C.R.A.Z.Y, scripted comedy Les Parent (The Parents) and variety show Air de famille (Family Harmony). The adaptation rights to Attraction’s La Vie Parfaite was also recently sold to French film studio Gaumont.
The awards will be presented on May 7 during the annual AQPM convention at Fairmont Le Château Montebello. The APQM represents independent film, television and web producers in Québec, including companies producing and co-producing content for all screens, in both French and English.
