TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin to end after season 19

Filling its timeslot at the Ontario pubcaster in the fall is a new public affairs program The Rundown.

The current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin (pictured) will end in June following 19 seasons on the Ontario pubcaster TVO.

In a Tuesday (April 22) release, TVO Media Group announced that the series will be ending after its current season with its host Paikin moving on to a new phase of his career at TVO.

Paikin will continue as the co-host of the Ontario politics podcast #onpoli. He will also continue writing columns and as a host of public engagements. The Agenda co-host Nam Kiwanuka will also continue at TVO through podcasts, columns and hosting.

“Deciding to sunset The Agenda with Steve Paikin this year was a collaborative decision we made with Steve three years ago when we signed his current contract,” said John Ferri, VP of programming and content, TVO, in a statement. “We are thankful Steve will continue to be an integral part of the TVO family with a strong and influential presence contributing to TVO journalism and we are excited to bring Ontarians a new public affairs show this fall.”

The Rundown will be filling The Agenda‘s timeslot in the fall. The series, according to a TVO release, features original journalism and in-depth analysis of social, political, cultural and economic issues that impact Ontarians. Each episode looks to explore a different topic through different journalistic mediums such as street interviews and explainer-style videos.
