TVO reveals new docs premiering in spring slate

The two world premieres hail from Toronto prodcos Good Earth Productions and Fathom Film Group.

Ontario pubcaster TVO has unveiled its spring 2025 programming slate, which will include the premieres of two new documentaries.

Premiering on April 20, Tripping: The Muskoka Lakes offers a three-hour boat ride through Ontario’s most famous cottage district, where tourist resorts, wooden heritage cottages and opulent new steel-and-glass residences coexist alongside stretches of pristine wilderness.

The doc is the latest entry in the Tripping travel franchise from Toronto-headquartered Good Earth Productions, with John Morrison serving as director, Andrea Minty as producer and Mitch Azaria as executive producer.

Debuting on May 25, Dangerous Games: Roblox and the Metaverse Exposed (1 x 85 min., pictured) is a character-driven documentary that follows three young amateur investigators as they explore the sinister underbelly of the kid-focused Roblox gaming platform. After one of the trio is harassed in one of the platform’s online games, they begin to uncover a disturbing network of extremists, predators and illicit content operating in the virtual world. As their investigation continues, real-world tragedies — including a kidnapping and a mass shooting — underscore the consequences of tech companies that are failing to protect their most vulnerable users.

The doc is produced by Toronto-based Fathom Film Group, with Susan Schafer directing. The producers are Ann Shin and Erica Leendertse. London-based Sideways Film is handling global sales.
