London, Ont.’s Fanshawe College has suspended 40 programs effective this fall, including those involving film and television production.
Announced yesterday (April 2), some of the affected programs are the eight-month graduate certificate Advanced Live Digital Media Production as well as Broadcasting – Radio & Media Production and Journalism – Television and Digital News.
Fanshawe also has campuses in Simcoe, Woodstock and St. Thomas, although the three programs above were all located in London.
A statement on the college’s website explains the decision was made following “Following a comprehensive review of enrolment trends, post-graduate work permit eligibility, labour market demand and financial viability.”
A FAQ states program suspensions have been endorsed by the Board of Governors and are final. All currently enrolled students will still be able to complete their programs.
The same FAQ states the college is projecting deficits over the next two years due to “sector-wide funding challenges and reduced international enrolment.”
