The new season will premiere May 13 on APTN and will be available to stream on APTN lumi. The series is also available on Air Canada’s inflight entertainment system.
Each episode of the anthology series, created by Shane Belcourt and produced by Belcourt and Jason Ryle, follows a different Indigenous musician. Amplify first premiered on the network in September 2020.
While the previous seasons were 13 episodes, season three will consist of 9 x 30-minutes filmed in fall and winter 2024 across Ontario and Alberta.
The new season’s roster of musicians includes Tia Wood (pictured), Shane Ghostkeeper, Evan Redsky, Quttau, Darcy Turning Robe, Sebastian Gaskin, Bebe Buckskin, Lido Pimienta and Crystal Shawanda.
Trevor Solway, Alexandra Lazarowich, Carla Robinson, Ryle, asinnajaq, Claudia Skunk and Sean Stiller are onboard as directors for season three.
According to a release, the series is filmed with a 100% Indigenous crew from First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. Season three has also been dubbed in the Oneida language.
Production on the series is supported by APTN, Ontario Creates, the Canada Media Fund and the Indigenous Screen Office.
