Switzerland and France-based sales and distribution company Lightdox has added Amalie Atkins’ debut feature documentary Agatha’s Almanac (pictured) to its roster.
The film from the Saskatoon-based artist follows the 90-year-old Agatha Bock as she tends to her ancestral farm, maintaining a way of life that predates modern conveniences such as running water and a functioning landline.
Agatha’s Almanac is produced by Atkins for Minema Cinema Productions. The film had its world premiere at Copenhagen’s CPH:DOX festival on March 23, with the Lightdox acquisition finalized just prior to its debut.
The 2025 edition of CPH:DOX runs from March 19 to 30.
OUTtv
Vancouver-based television and streaming service OUTtv is now available in Taiwan as a linear channel via a partnership with Chungwha Telecom.
The March 18 launch is part of OUTtv’s strategic partnership with Singapore-based Ulight Entertainment Technology, which is supporting the distribution of OUTtv as a channel across Asia. The LGBTQ-focused streaming service is also working with Greg Ang and Harold Gronenthal of Singapore-based content and distribution company GangTV.
Audiences will be able to view OUTtv’s original content, including such series as Sew Fierce and Call Me Mother, on Chungwha’s IPTV service, Multimedia On Demand, which has more than two million subscribers, according to a release.
Blue Ant Studios
Blue Ant Studios is overseeing global licensing and distribution for a fast-turnaround doc from the UK’s ITN Productions that examines the ongoing legal battle between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
The documentary, He Said, She Said: Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni, had its 93-minute version premiere on the U.K.’s 5 channel March 17. Warner Bros. Discovery-owned true crime cable network ID will be airing a condensed 60-minute version on March 31 with the documentary to be available to stream on Max and Discovery+ as well.
The doc examines the legal complaints both parties have brought against each other, the evidence on both sides of the case, and the role that social media has played in the dispute.
Just For Entertainment
Quebec City-based Just For Entertainment Distribution (JFED) has licensed its sketch show LOL : ) to buyers in South America and Asia.
For Uruguay, the program has been licensed to Teledoce and in Indonesia has been licensed to Transmedia Group via partner GoQuest.
The non-verbal scripted comedy (154 x 30 minutes) currently has 11 seasons with a new season in production this spring.
In a statement, Alex Avon, chief revenue and strategy officer for JFED (formerly known as Amuz Distribution) said the series has sold to more than 150 countries since its creation in 2011.
