Quebecor Fund reveals support for two projects, four prodcos

Two projects are being supported through the funder's Film Production Assistance Program with an additional four companies receiving support through its Export Assistance Program.

The Quebecor Fund has revealed the recipients of the latest round of funding from two of its programs.

The latest round of the Film Production Assistance Program will see $390,000 split between two upcoming features.

The goal of the program is to support the production and multi-platform distribution of French-language Canadian films.

The first film receiving support is Furies, directed by Mélanie Charbonneau and written by Gabrielle Côté. The feature comedy, produced by Montreal’s Écho Média and distributed by Immina Films, follows a group of women that form a roller derby team after losing their time at the ice rink.

The second selected project is Ma belle-mère est une sorcière, produced by Montreal’s Attraction and Productions La Fête and distributed by TVA Films. The film tells the story of a girl who is convinced her father has come under the influence of a witch following her parents separation.

Additionally, the Quebecor Fund is supporting four companies with $1.15 million through its Export Assistance Program. The Quebecor Fund-administered program has partnered with the Canada Media Fund (CMF) since 2017 and supports export initiatives by funding the development of projects adapted for national and international markets outside Quebec as well as marketing.

The four companies receiving support are Montreal-based companies Pixcom International, Productions Connect3, Yzanakio and Cyril Chauquet inc.

For this round of funding, the Quebecor Fund is investing $627,000 in support while the CMF is providing $523,000.
