The TV5 Québec Canada board of directors has appointed VP of Quebecor Content Yann Paquet as its president and CEO.

Effective April 14, Paquet (pictured) will helm the Montreal-based non-profit organization which includes the TV5 and Unis TV channels as well as the TV5Unis platform. He succeeds Marie-Philippe Bouchard, who was named the new president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada in October 2024.

“The board of directors and I are convinced that Yann Paquet’s strategic vision and experience are major assets that will enable TV5 and Unis TV to meet upcoming challenges and achieve their objectives successfully,” said Mariette Mulaire, president of TV5 Québec Canada’s board of directors, in a statement.

At Quebecor, Paquet oversaw foreign television program acquisitions and the financing of productions aired on TVA Group’s networks and Videotron’s platforms. He was also responsible for managing the illico+ platform and the TVA Films and Incendo divisions.

Prior to Quebecor Content, Paquet spent two years as VP, multiplatform content at Quebecor’s Videotron and seven years at CBC/Radio-Canada as senior director, new media and director of news and information, new media.

“In recent years, the rapid rise of global digital giants, the globalization of content, its barrier-free accessibility, and the decline in traditional television audiences have dramatically reshaped the cultural landscape in Quebec, Canada and worldwide,” said Paquet. “TV5 Québec Canada’s role in the vitality and promotion of French-language culture is more essential than ever.”
