Bright North, Film Rise team for The Christmas Killings series

The deal was announced at NATPE Global 2025 in Miami.

New York City-based studio and streaming network FilmRise has inked a coproduction partnership with Toronto-based Bright North Studios, part of Jeff Zucker’s RedBird IMI, for a new true-crime series, The Christmas Killings Hosted by Nancy Grace, for which FilmRise will hold all U.S. distribution rights.

The announcement of the deal was made jointly by FilmRise head of content Jonitha Keymoore and Bright North Studios founder Shawn Efran on Thursday (Feb. 6) at NATPE Global 2025 in Miami.

Fronted by veteran journalist and presenter Grace (pictured), the 12 x 60-minute series spotlights chilling crimes that took place on festive occasions from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, told through evocative cinematography and intimate home videos from the victims themselves.

The series marks FilmRise’s second collaboration with Grace following the success of the Bloodline Detectives franchise, which is now in its fifth season.

“FilmRise’s extensive library of true-crime content is unparalleled, and their distribution network reaches far beyond traditional channels, connecting with a wide range of audiences,” said Bright North founder Efran in a statement. “We couldn’t imagine a better partner for this project and are confident this collaboration will result in a highly successful series.”

FilmRise is coproducing The Christmas Killings Hosted by Nancy Grace alongside Efran and Mary Bissell for Bright North Studios. The copro deal was negotiated by Efran and Azadeh de Leon for Bright North, and Jonitha Keymoore for FilmRise.
