Shaftesbury hires Susan Alexander for creative exec role

The former Corus production executive oversaw the development of series such as Family Law and Geek Girl.

Toronto prodco Shaftesbury has hired former Corus Entertainment production executive Susan Alexander (pictured) as senior director, creative.

Her key responsibilities will include overseeing all creative aspects of development, production, post-production and launch. She will also seek out new IP, pilot proposals, scripts and pitches.

Alexander will join Shaftesbury effective Feb. 10, reporting to both VP, creative Julie Lacey, and president and chairman Christina Jennings.

As a production executive with Corus, Alexander oversaw the development of scripted series such as Geek Girl, Mary Kills People and Family Law. She also produced and developed series such as Little Mosque on the Prairie and Da Kink in My Hair.

“She is known for her hard work, tenacity and ability to bring the best out of a story,” said Jennings in a statement. “We love that creators think highly of Susan. She will be a strong addition to our creative team.”
