Los Angeles-based Flourishing Films has acquired worldwide rights, excluding Canada, to the short-form series Hello (Again) from Toronto prodco 100 Dragons.
The 9 x 10-minute romantic comedy was created by Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Nathalie Younglai (Coroner). Originally commissioned by CBC Gem, the series launched in Canada in March 2022. Teresa M. Ho (Frankie Drake Mysteries), Liu, Younglai and Alex Mallari Jr. (The Adam Project, pictured left) are executive producers.
The Melanie Chung-directed series focuses on a chef and an ER resident who get another chance post-breakup after the former time travels into the past. Hello (Again) stars Mallari Jr. and Rong Fu (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, pictured right).
The series was developed in association with CBC, with funding from the Bell Fund, Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates and federal tax credits.
This acquisition was negotiated by 100 Dragons president and founder Teresa M. Ho and Flourishing Films CEO Efuru Flowers.
Ho noted the similar mandates between the two companies in a statement, looking forward to bringing the series to the international marketplace.
