The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television has unveiled the nine participants for its fourth Women in Post program.
The initiative from the Toronto-based non-profit organization, which it launched with Netflix in 2021, is dedicated to granting opportunities to emerging and mid-level women-identifying and non-binary creatives in the post-production industry through mentorships and workshops.
This year’s cohort includes four people from Ontario, two from Quebec, two from B.C. and one from N.S.
The Ontario selections include Desiree Bailey (post-production supervision) and Jordana Allen-Shim (picture editing) from Toronto; Shehzil Jamal (VFX) from Milton; and Star Chaplin (VFX/3D animation) from Perth.
The Quebec participants are Claudine Cinous (post-production supervision) and Mélanie Fordham (colour), both from Montreal.
The B.C. selections include La-Nai Gabriel (sound/post-production supervision) from Victoria and Milana Knight (colour/VFX) from Vancouver.
Rounding out the cohort is Ally Fiola (sound) from Ellershouse, N.S.
The participants of the program will attend the 2025 editions of the Canadian Cinema Editors’ EditCon and the Canadian Screen Awards. They will also be granted a two-year voting membership to the Canadian Academy and join the network of Women in Post alumni.
