TVO has renewed the series Old Enough! for a second season.
Coproduced by Blue Ant Studios and TVO, the series is based on the original Japanese format from Nippon TV and follows children ages three to five as they experience independence while running their own errands. The Canadian adaptation debuted on TVO on Sept. 8.
The 6 x 30-minute season is led by showrunner and series producer Mitch Burman (Extreme Babysitting) and will see a new cast of children complete various tasks. It will debut on TVO in 2025.
Executive producers on Old Enough! are Matthew Hornburg, Mark Bishop and Donna Luke for Blue Ant Studios, and Naoko Yano and Akane Alex Inoue for Nippon TV.
Blue Ant Studios handles the international tape distribution of the Canadian adaptation. The company is currently repping sales of season one at MIPCOM, which runs until Thursday (Oct. 24).
TVO head of programming Natasha Negrea said audiences “have already fallen in love with the kids from season one,” adding that the series “not only entertains, but also adds to the ongoing public conversations around the importance of providing children with opportunities to thrive on their own.”
Nippon TV’s Inoue added that the company hopes the new season “reinforces Old Enough!‘s universal message about parenting and children, paving the way for more international adaptations.”
