Guru Studio's Big Blue is now streaming on Roku in the U.S., Sinking Ship preps products for new series, and more.

Guru Studio’s comedy adventure series Big Blue has been acquired for streaming in the U.S. on the Roku Channel.

Created by Gyimah Gariba, Big Blue follows the adventures of two siblings, their submarine crew and a fairy stowaway.

The U.S. launch comes after the series’ debut in Latin America last month on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Cartoon Network and Max. Originally commissioned by CBC Kids, the series has since onboarded several broadcast partners including Nickelodeon/Nicktoons in the U.K., ABC Kids in Australia, Cartoon Network in Africa, EBS in South Korea, RTS in Switzerland, RTVE Clan in Spain and MBC in the Middle East.

The Roku Channel streams to more than 83 million households in the U.S. according to a news release.

Sinking Ship

Toronto-based Sinking Ship Entertainment’s (SSE) longtime licensing partners Safari and Mango Publishing are prepping new product ranges for the studio’s soon-to-launch series Dino Dex.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Safari will release a collection of Dino Dig kits later this year, while Miami-headquartered Mango has a matching card game on deck to hit shelves in early 2025. Dino Dex will premiere in the U.S. (Amazon Prime and Amazon Kids+) this month, before rolling out in Canada on TVOKids, TFO and Knowledge Network in November.

Since the launch of Dino Dan in 2010, SSE’s franchise has grown into nine seasons of television, multiple Emmy awards, digital games, toys, books, location-based events and a feature film.

9 Story Distribution has sold Dylan’s Playtime Adventures to several international broadcasters, including SVT (Sweden), DRTV (Denmark), YLE (Finland), RTÉ (Ireland), Hop! (Israel), EBS (South Korea), MediaCorp (Singapore) and ETV (South Africa).

The series is also set to launch in on Cartoonito and Max in the U.S. in the near future, according to a release.

Based on the Scholastic picture books by Guy Parker-Rees, this 52 x 11-minute preschool 2D and CGI-animated series about a colourful canine premiered on CBC Kids and CBeebies in the U.K. earlier this year. It is produced by 9 Story Media Group and animated by Brown Bag Films.
