Winnipeg’s Farpoint Films is set to produce a feature film written, directed and starring Kids in the Hall‘s Kevin McDonald.

One Week Left serves as McDonald’s directorial debut and focuses on an aging ex-rock star who heads out on an “apology tour” one week before going to jail for fraud against his best friend.

McDonald’s Kids in the Hall co-stars – Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Scott Thompson and Mark McKinney – are also attached to star in the film.

Farpoint will also distribute the film. Financing raised to date is provided by Farpoint Distribution, Manitoba Film and Music, Telefilm Canada and various tax credits.

The film will begin shooting in 2025, mostly taking place in Winnipeg and other parts of Manitoba, with additional filming planned in Toronto.

“This is a story that literally couldn’t be done without me, so I’m excited to be working with myself – and Farpoint Films – on it,” said McDonald in a statement.
