Vancouver-based OUTtv has commissioned six scripted and unscripted series for its streaming slate.
The unscripted lineup includes Get Hooked (7 x 30 minutes), a docuseries co-commissioned with Accessible Media Inc. (AMI).
The series sees members of queer, disability, Black and Indigenous communities use fishing to support their mental health. British disability advocate and comedian Rosie Jones is among the guest stars.
Get Hooked is produced by Avocado Toast co-creator Heidi Lynch under her Bone Vault banner, with support from the Bell Fund, Ontario Creates and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). It is slated for a spring 2025 release.
OUTtv has also ordered the docuseries Stripped Down from L.A.-based Producer Entertainment Group for 2025. Created and directed by Matt Cullen, the series follows the lives of dancers at a gay strip club in Florida.
Among the scripted commissions is the previously announced short-form series Settle Down! (pictured) from Toronto prodco Border2Border Entertainment. The 6 x 20-minute series stars creator Alexander Nunez as a queer matchmaker who is unlucky in his own love life. It will be released in winter 2025.
The scripted slate includes two more commissions from Producer Entertainment Group. The comedy series Off Shoot (6 x 30 minutes) follows a photographer and his assistant taking on unpredictable photo sessions with their clients, which debuts this fall. Premiering in 2025 is the mockumentary Drag House Rules (6 x 30 minutes), which sees drag stars such as Jujubee, Manila Luzon and Silky Nutmeg Ganache compete in a perilous competition reality show.
Rounding out the commissions is the multi-format variety series Wish You Were Queer (6 x 30 minutes), coproduced by New York-based D’Marie Productions and Producer Entertainment Group. The series follows comedy duo Michael Henry and Tim Murray on their North American standup comedy tour. Executive producers on the series are Trixie Mattel and David Silver.
