SODEC names 18 documentary and fiction projects for funding

Among the projects selected, six are feature films, eight are short films and four are documentaries.

La Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) has selected 18 documentary and fiction projects, in the development stage, for funding as part of its emerging creation assistance program.

According to SODEC, these projects were selected from a total of 114 eligible projects submitted in May this year.

Of the projects, four are documentaries, eight are short films and six are feature-length films.

The documentaries selected are Ch’Art (La 115e), written by Éric Lamarre; Forteresses (Coop Vidéo de Montréal), written by Romane Garant Chartrand; Le livre de Lionel (Parabola Films), written by Aimé Majeau Beauchamp; and Les dimanches (Némésis Films), written by Justine Martin.

The selected short films include Deus ex machina (VF2 Productions), a comedy written by Guillaume Fournier; Entre chien et loup (Autres histoires), a fantasy-horror film written by Éloïse Grenier-Carpintero; and Gaya et le petit désert (Tobo Média), a children’s movie written by Johanne Champagne.

The other selected short films are Les galets (La 115e), a fantasy-horror film written by Camille Trudel; L’inconvénient (Le Foyer Films), a drama written by Julien Gamache-Marcotte;

L’innocence au temps du génocide (Sage comme un orage), a drama written by Laura Kamugisha; Miss météo (Art et essai), a youth-comedy written by Gabrielle Gingras; and Secrets (Couronne Nord), a drama written by Justine Prince.

The feature-length films selected include Batay (Chasseurs Films), a drama written by Mathieu Cyr; Ce qui nous sépare (Telescope Films), a science-fiction film written by Clara Milo and Vincent René-Lortie; and Dawwar (Films Scarabée), a drama written by Aziz Zoromba.

The final three features selected are La femme du futur (Les films maintenant et plus tard), a science-fiction film written by Paul Chotel and Ariane Falardeau St-Amour; La locataire (Les Films Cosmos), written by Katerine Martineau; and Opportunità (Les Films Extérieur Jour), a gangster film written by Giuliano Bossa and Roberto Bossa.
