CBC/Radio-Canada and ABC Australia have co-commissioned Andrew the Big BIG Unicorn, an animated series from Vancouver’s Mainframe Studios, Australia’s Pirate Size Productions and Singapore’s Infinite Studios.
Created by Dan Nixon and co-created by Alyssa Smedley, Andrew the Big BIG Unicorn follows a young rhino bursting with creativity as he navigates life as a big BIG unicorn in the ever-surprising world of Hornsby Downs.
The 40 x 7-minute series will screen on CBC Kids, Radio-Canada, CBC Gem and Ici Tou.TV in Canada, and ABC Kids and ABC iview starting in 2025.
The series producers are Michael Hefferon from Mainframe, Bryony McLachlan from Australia’s Pirate Size and Freddie Yeo from Infinite Studios. Executive producers are Hefferon, Tanya Green, Avrill Stark and Michael Wiluan. Nick Colla is a co-producer.
ABC and CBC provided a major production investment, according to CBC. The series is financed with support from Screen Australia, Radio-Canada and the Canada Media Fund. It was developed with assistance from Australia’s VicScreen.
