Ontario’s Krow, Torpedo, Tryptyc launch Ticket VFX studio

The new VFX studio will be led by EVP Samara Melanson and COO Bob Munroe.

Ontario studios Krow VFX, Torpedo Pictures and Tryptyc have launched a new visual effects house, Ticket VFX.

The goal is to provide global filmmakers and producers with a one-stop shop of VFX through concept, production and post-production. To wit, the new studio has on hand multiple VFX supervisors and on-set VFX supervisors, as well as approximately 150 artists and production staff.

Ticket VFX is led by COO Bob Munroe (pictured left) and EVP and head of studio Samara Melanson (pictured right).

The Toronto-headquartered Ticket VFX has been in the works for two years and is the creation of the founders of the three studios: Krow’s Clint Green and Darren Cranford, Torpedo’s Richard Chiu and Tim Townsend, and Tryptyc’s Leo Bovell and Winston Lee.

“Having worked with all three studios on some very challenging projects, and admiring their immense capabilities, it’s truly a privilege to launch and lead Ticket VFX in this new, exciting alliance,” Munroe tells Playback Daily.

In addition to its visual effects work, Ticket VFX is planning a mentorship program, as well as donations to underserved and Indigenous communities via clothing donations, technology donations and food drives.

Across the three founding studios, their teams have worked on award-winning projects such as The Boys, John Wick, Lovecraft Country, The Handmaid’s Tale, Lady in the Lake and Sharp Corner.
