Paquin Entertainment Group hires Andrew Akman as COO

Based in Toronto, Akman will support the live entertainment company as it expands its project roster to include film and television.

North America’s Paquin Entertainment Group has appointed former Cineflix Media exec Andrew Akman (pictured) as its chief operating officer.

Paquin Entertainment is a live entertainment company that represents more than 300 artists, including Jully Black, Lights, Marianas Trench, Bryan Adams, Nickelback and Sarah McLachlan. Its divisions include Paquin Artists Agency, live events arm Exhibitions & Theatrical and brand campaign agency Partnerships.

Based in Toronto, Akman will support the company’s planned expansion into film and TV productions. He has several talent-based projects in development for broadcasters and streamers, according to a news release.

Akman spent nearly a decade as COO at Cineflix Media, before transitioning out of the role to co-found the Cineflix-backed prodco Husk Media with Morwyn Brebner. He previously held senior roles at Shaw Media, Canwest and Alliance Atlantis.

“Andrew’s expertise in media and entertainment and his entrepreneurial spirit make him an ideal fit for Paquin as we continue to expand the range and scale of our global businesses in artist representation, immersive exhibits, live events, brand partnerships, and theatre, film and television,” said Paquin chairman and CEO Gilles Paquin in a statement.

Added Akman: “Talent is in higher demand than ever as entertainment companies collaborate with creatives and performers to reach global audiences, and Paquin works with many of the most prominent names in the business. There’s immense potential for growth and the company is perfectly positioned to forge connections between fans, brands and artists across platforms.”
