Hollywood Suite has acquired the exclusive Canadian rights to scripted comedy series Poly Is the New Monogamy.

The 6 x 30-minute series is created by Cat Hostick (Urban Legend), who writes, directs, produces and stars in the comedy about three friends in New York City navigating the trials and tribulations of modern dating.

Poly Is the New Monogamy debuted on Hollywood Suite On Demand on July 1, and will make its linear TV debut on July 17.

The comedy is produced by Hostick’s Toronto-based Dreamweaver Pictures, which fully financed the production. Additional producers are Natalie Dale, Chris Violette and Maya Fink.

The cast includes Marianna Phung (Tokens), Ann Pirvu (Reign), Bobby Del Rio (My Roommate’s an Escort) and Sasha Barry (Wynnona Earp).

Poly Is the New Monogamy is a “fresh take on some of our favourite dating sitcoms,” said Hostick in a statement, with Sharon Stevens, Hollywood Suite’s VP, programming, adding that Hostick “has written some truly magnetic characters that are both authentic and relatable.”
