Thunderbird Distribution inks deals for multiple titles

The B.C.-based studio has sold scripted, kids, and unscripted content to multiple buyers, including Roku and Tubi.

Vancouver-headquartered Thunderbird Distribution (part of Thunderbird Entertainment Group) has sold a raft of scripted, kids and family, and unscripted titles to domestic and international buyers.

For scripted content, Thunderbird made a deal with Fuse Media for season one (13 x 30 minutes) of Kim’s Convenience for its U.S. linear channel, while Encore Airlines has picked up season 5 five (13 x 30 minutes) of the series. And U.S.-based AVOD Fawesome has picked up seasons one and two (26 x 60 minutes) as well as a MOW (1 x 90 minutes) of the crime drama Intelligence.

Tubi (Canada) picked up the feature films Slow West, High-Rise, The Riot Club and That Sugar Film, while Pluto (Canada) picked up High-Rise and Entanglement. TVA (French Canada) has licensed 2016’s Up For Love (Un Homme à la Hauteur).

In the kids and family category, Neflix has renewed its U.S. license for the YA comedy Some Assembly Required (57 x 30 minutes). Canadian pubcasters TVO and Knowledge Network have picked up season 2 of Molly of Denali (23 x 30 minutes, 1x 44 minute special, 20 x 3 minute shorts), produced by GBH and Atomic Cartoons. Knowledge is also now airing Atomic Cartoons’ animated preschool special Rocket Saves the Day (1 x 45 minutes), and the PBS KIDS commission has been licensed by PCCW Media (Hong Kong) and UYoung/Ukids (China).

In unscripted content, deals were inked with Tubi (Canada) and Roku (Canada) for 10 x 90-minute installments of the docuseries I Am…, including I Am Steve McQueen, I Am Chris Farley and I Am Heath Ledger. Also on Roku (U.S., Canada, U.K.) is the documentary film Chasing Evel: The Robbie Knievel Story (120′). Fuse Media has licensed season two of the docuseries Celebrity Style Story (40 x 30 minutes) for its FAST channel, Backstage.
