Guru Studio bolsters senior team with hires, promotions

Among the new additions is former Brain Power and Netflix exec Jasmine Gard.

Toronto-based animation prodco Guru Studio has added some key hires and promotions to bolster its leadership team.

Jasmine Gard (pictured, left) has been hired as VP of finance. She arrives after holding senior finance roles at Netflix, 9 Story Media and Brain Power Studio. She will report to Guru’s president and executive creative director, Frank Falcone. Gard will oversee the company’s production and corporate finance departments, financial and budgeting strategy, as well as tax and auditing.

Reporting to Gard, the department also added Kwan Ho Lee as controller. He previously held the position of director of finance at Sphere Media.

In addition to the new additions, the company’s sales and marketing team made two notable changes to its staff. Daniel Rattner (pictured, centre), who has been with the studio since 2017, has been appointed VP of brand strategy & growth. Jennifer Oppenheimer (pictured, right) is promoted to senior manager, international sales & licensing.

“Jasmine brings a wealth of financial and operational planning expertise to Guru,” said Falcone in a statement. “Together with Daniel, Jennifer, and the rest of our leadership team we’re well positioned to support the strategic growth and evolution of our studio.”

Guru Studio is behind such children’s programming as PAW Patrol, True and the Rainbow Kingdom (Netflix) and a recent mini-series adaptation of Charlotte’s Web (Warner Bros Discovery’s Max).
