Canadian Academy names 2024 Quebec scholarship recipients

The Bourses de l’Académie pour la relève program provides paid internships for emerging creators.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television – Quebec section has announced the six recipients of the Bourses de l’Académie pour la relève (Scholarships for the Next Generation) program.

The program provides emerging creators with an opportunity to work with industry professionals through a paid internship at a production company or on a production.

Six scholarships worth $6,000 are awarded through the program, with three reserved for creators from underrepresented communities, including Indigenous, Black and racialized people, people with disabilities and those from the LGBTQIA2+ community.

The scholarships recipients for 2024 include translation coordinator, researcher and screenwriter Kim Arseneault, who is receiving the scholarship reserved for an Indigenous person in collaboration with Kassiwi Media; screenwriter and photographer Isnard Délice; and filmmaker Emile Dufresne.

Director and producer Diane Premi, editor Maria A. Rodriguez and illustrator, designer and animator Maggie Zeng round out the recipients.

The six creators will also have the opportunity to attend the Academy’s 5 à 7 audiovisual industry networking event on April 25.The program’s partners include Telefilm Canada, SODEC, National Bank, Bell Media and Kassiwi Media.
